Anti-Boycott MFN Restriction Act of 1993 - Prohibits application of nondiscriminatory treatment (most-favored-nation treatment) to the products of countries that participate in, or cooperate with, the international economic boycott of Israel.
This bill would deny most-favored-nation trade status to any country that participates in or cooperates with an international economic boycott of Israel. Most-favored-nation status allows a country's exports to enter the US at the lowest available tariff rates. The effect would be to impose tariffs on goods from boycott-participating nations unless they end their participation.
The bill uses US trade leverage to directly penalize and discourage the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement targeting Israel. It treats participation in or support for BDS as grounds for economic sanctions, making this a front-line legislative response to pro-Palestine economic activism.
