Solidify Iran Sanctions Act of 2022 This bill permanently extends certain sanctions against Iran.
This bill makes permanent a set of existing sanctions against Iran that were previously set to expire. It removes expiration dates from specified Iran sanctions measures, locking them in indefinitely unless Congress acts to reverse them.
Permanent Iran sanctions are a core component of pro-Israel U.S. foreign policy, as they aim to constrain Iran's regional military capabilities and nuclear program. This measure removes any sunset clause that might require future congressional reauthorization, making it harder for any future administration to wind down Iran sanctions without explicit legislative action.
