Freezing and Halting Any More Alleviation of Sanctions Act or Freezing HAMAS Act This bill reinstates any statutory sanctions against Iran that had been waived, reduced, or otherwise relieved pursuant to any agreement between the United States and Iran.
This bill cancels all waivers and relief from sanctions against Iran that were granted under any U.S.-Iran agreement. Any Iranian sanctions that were reduced or suspended would be reinstated and enforced.
Iran is a major source of funding and military support for Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups. Reinstating sanctions could constrain resources flowing to these organizations, though it would also affect broader Iranian economy and any existing diplomatic channels.
